Novus Property Solutions has successfully supported Manningham Housing Association in its Wave 2.1 Social Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) bid, whereby the residents of Bradford will benefit from over £2 million of investment into retrofit installations to bring homes up to at least an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C rating.
Through its Sustain service, the leading decarbonisation, maintenance, and compliance contractor will work closely with the housing association to create healthier homes with reduced energy usage in the Manningham area of Bradford. Novus launched its Sustain workstream in 2021, offering a dedicated one-stop-shop service to assist the housing sector in achieving zero carbon targets across property portfolios. As part of the service, Novus’ expert team is able to complete the identification, application, and execution of funding agreements such as SHDF, as well as deliver the work.
The SHDF funding will cover a series of energy efficiency upgrades to 111 properties, including loft top-ups, cavity wall insulation, and solar PV panels, in order to upgrade the properties to an EPC Band C rating.
Michael Dyson Associates is project managing the scheme on behalf of Manningham and is also providing retrofit assessment, coordination, and design services.
Novus, which celebrated its tenth anniversary as a sole entity in 2023 but has a rich 125-year family history, operates with people at its heart, and this ethos will be invaluable for completing these works in the diverse community of Manningham. The contractor will carry out the retrofit work with careful consideration for residents’ cultures and languages, ensuring consistent and open communication throughout.
Commenting on the scheme, John Dale, Head of Operations at Novus Property Solutions, said: “Novus’ vast experience in the execution of decarbonisation retrofit works, as well as our longstanding reputation for putting people at the heart of everything we do, makes us the ideal contractor to work on Manningham Housing Association’s latest investment into its housing stock.
“We’re delighted to have played a significant role in the successful application for SHDF Wave 2.1 funding, and we look forward to continued collaboration with Manningham Housing Association, Michael Dyson Associates, and the community over the coming months.”
Tom Finch, Head of Property Services at Manning Housing Association (MHA), said: “MHA is pleased to be partnering with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Novus, and Michael Dyson Associates on this project. The investment of over £2 million into our properties will support our customers by improving the thermal efficiency of their homes and advancing the wider drive to net zero across the housing sector.”.
Paul Tyrer, Director at Michael Dyson Associates Ltd, added: “Michael Dyson Associates Ltd has worked successfully with Manningham Housing Association for many years, and we are happy to continue that long-standing relationship on this project. We look forward to bringing our multi-disciplinary retrofit expertise to the project, working collaboratively alongside Novus, Manningham Housing Association, and the residents to ensure delivery of the project in line with SHDF funding criteria.”
Novus Property Solutions was incorporated in 2013 following a restructuring of Seddon Property Services Ltd, a division of the Seddon Group formed in 1897. Today, the company operates as an independent trading entity but is still under the ownership of the Seddon family, led by fourth- and fifth-generation Seddon family members. 2023 marks an iconic moment in Novus’ history: their 10-year anniversary. To mark the occasion, the business has a full year of activities planned that will recognise and reward employees and give back to the communities they work in.
