Michael Dyson Associates Ltd is working with Equans and Birmingham City Council to provide Architectural design services for the refurbishment of Sorrel House high-rise block. Sorrel House is a 9 storey block of Large Panel System (LPS) construction and proposals are being developed to improve the structural performance of the building (eliminating disproportionate collapse risk), along with improving the thermal performance and fire protection of the block. A structural exoskeleton frame, approved by BRE, is being installed to provide new load transfer and strengthen of the connections of floors and walls and a new external insulating envelope is being designed to work with this. MDA are providing Architectural & Lead Designer services for RIBA Work Stages 1-7 on this project.
