Michael Dyson Associates Ltd was appointed to provide consultancy services in connection with the installation of a sprinkler system with pump and tank to six high-rise blocks in Tamworth. Post Grenfell, this was a project that would be under the spotlight and is one of a number of sprinkler projects that we are involved with.
In addition, we also project managed the internal and external refurbishment works to the six tower blocks. Both contracts ran alongside each other whilst being delivered by separate contracting teams.
The aim of the refurbishment was to improve the communal areas and external building façade by replacing components that were reaching the end of their life. Internally works consisted of internal decoration to walls, ceilings, woodwork and metal work as well as the renewal of floor coverings. The external work consisted of the louvered communal windows, replacement of timber balustrades, concrete repairs, new floor coatings and decoration to the balcony areas.
We also managed the replacement of five lifts within the blocks under a separate contract and we liaised with Fusion 21 to procure the lift contractor to undertake this project.
