Nature of Work Undertaken

Following a rigorous tender process, Michael Dyson Associates Ltd was selected by Cherwell District Council to provide Architectural and Principal Designer services for the proposed redevelopment of a prominent site in the heart of Banbury, which was once home to The Admiral Holland public house.

We produced a number of feasibility options for the site, resulting in the following property mix and site enhancements as agreed with the client and the local planning department:

7 x 2-bed houses for affordable rent
6 x 1-bed flats for shared ownership (attracting HCA funding)
1 x 3-bed house for affordable rent
26 car parking spaces
Landscaping
New access road with gated access

Planning permission was granted at committee in December 2018 subject to CDC signing a Section 106 agreement.

Following the appointment of the contractor, construction commenced on site in May 2019 but was inevitably disrupted during the Covid19 pandemic. We worked closely with the client and contractor to ensure procedures were in place to enable Covid-Safe working conditions and the scheme ultimately completed in October 2020.
